Cheap Auto Insurance -- The Best Vehicle

By Chimezirim Odimba

Certain vehicles are more insurance-friendly. This means that they'll help you get cheaper auto insurance. Here are things to bear in mind when shopping for your next car.

1. It will cost you a lot more to insure a car if it has a poor safety rating. Safety features should be given top consideration when shopping for a new car. You'll be eligible for a Safe Vehicle discount if your car has such features. For more details on these and how much you can save by having them, consult your agent.

2.Some vehicles cost much to insure. So as you look out for the wonderful specs of the car you intend to buy don't forget to ask costs too much to insure. Avoid any car that has a high theft rate and/or a bad crash rating.

Furthermore, vehicles that generally cost more to maintain also cost more to insure. This is my personal opinion; but it does make sense to opt for a comparable car that is less expensive to insure.

3. Features like automatic gas cut-off, alarms and other anti-theft devices are encouraged. Since they reduce the likelihood of your car being stolen they attract a reasonable discount. Cars without such devices are easy targets for thieving rats.

4. Folks who ignorantly buy either collision or comprehensive coverage or both for an old car that is not considered a classic are simply pay far more than should. This is because you are compensated based on what is called the Kelly Blue Book value of your car at the time you make a claim. Therefore, you'll get nothing if the book says your car is worth nothing at the time of a claim.

So do yourself a favor and remove this coverage types from your policy for all old cars. If you do this you'll pay a lot less.

5. You will save much if you really have between 25-30 minutes. Visit, receive and compare auto insurance quotes from selected insurance quotes sites. The lowest quote should be what you go for easily.

However, you have to look beyond just the cheapest price to the best price/value. The lowest priced may not offer the best price/value for you as a person.
