Car Insurance 101

By Tom Martens

Everybody who drives a car has to maintain car insurance. But how can you choose the right policy at the right price?

First, it's important to be sure what your policy does and does not cover. If the policy does not give you enough liability coverage to protect your income and assets, or if it does not cover your unique driving situations, then you need to tell your agent about your needs and ask him or her for a new quote. While you are legally required to maintain car insurance, you also need to be sure your policy will take care of you in case of a crash or a breakdown. When you are shopping around, having a written record of the quote keeps the agent from attempting to raise your price if you decide to buy their insurance.

If you also insure a home or you life, you may be able to take advantage of a feature called bundling. Bundled policies are all provided by the same company. Insurance companies like to provide all your coverage, and usually offer you discounts. They will also work with you to choose the due date for your premiums that best fits your budget, whether that's all your premiums on the same day, or staggering your premiums so they do not all hit at once.

A major factor in how much you pay for car insurance is where you live. Generally speaking, you will pay more if you live in a city and less if you live in the country. Also, the more expensive your car, the more you will pay to insure it. The safer your auto is rated in test crashes, on the other hand, the less you will pay to insure it. Any kind of "flash" or any custom feature will increase your insurance costs.

Ask your insurance provider what discounts are available to you on a car insurance policy. Many providers offer discounts for senior citizens, members of the military, women, multiple cars, multiple drivers and multiple policies. You might also be eligible for a premium discount if you belong to certain organizations, such as the AARP, or a specialty club. If you have a teen driver in the family and the teen is a good student, ask your insurance provider if they have good student discounts. Good students are viewed as responsible, which helps lower the risk in the eyes of the insurance provider. Your teen could also enroll in a basic or defensive driving course to help lower their insurance premium rates.

Finally, it's always a good idea to shop around. Get multiple quotes on your auto coverage. There's always a possibility that another company will offer you better coverage at a lower price?it happens all the time. The insurance companies make it easier to shop around that it used to be, especially if you are comfortable looking for coverage on the Internet. Do you research to find out the discount programs that may save you money, the risk assessment for your neighborhood, and the safety rating of your vehicle? Going to your insurance broker armed with information makes it much more likely you will get the lowest possible rates.

Regardless of your car insurance needs, contact a qualified insurance provider. They can examine your situation and answer whatever questions you may have before tailoring a car insurance policy that meets your needs and provides the coverage you want. Car insurance may be required, but you also want a policy that meets your driving needs.

Do you have to buy Car Insurance?

By Samantha A. Bow

If everyone obeyed the law and never made mistakes, we would probably have a world with no car accidents. The sad truth is, people do break the law and everyone makes mistakes. This means that accidents do happen and we have to pay for the damages that are caused. Without car insurance, these damages would cause a lot of financial problems.

When it comes time to get car insurance, don't just get the first one you see or the cheapest one you can find. You need to look for two main qualities, price and coverage. You need them both to be good, not just one or the other. You could get lucky and end up with the cheapest policy having the best coverage for you, but that is unlikely. No matter what, when you get a car and want to drive it, get insurance.

Do you have to buy car insurance? If you live in the United States, you do have to buy car insurance. You can't have a car on the road that is not insured. This not only causes problems for you in an accident, but with the other person if there was someone else involved.

When an accident happens, your insurance company and the insurance company of the other person have to communicated and arrange payments, depending on whose fault it was. Sometimes you will both have the same insurance company. That will make things easier. If you have no insurance, you'll end up paying a lot of money.

You will save money if you have insurance. Even if you think you are just throwing away money, if you get into an accident, you won't be wasting money. For example, if you are paying $100 a month to insure your car, over the course of 2 years you will have paid $2,400. No let's say you total your car in an accident.

If it was your fault, you would have to pay for the damages, or considering they are totaled, you will have to pay the value of the car. If the value of both cars is $10,000, you would be covered under insurance and wouldn't have to pay it, unless you had to pay a deductible.

Let's say you do have to pay a $500 deductible. Over two years, you pay $2,400 plus the $500 deductible. If you didn't have insurance, you wouldn't have paid the $2,400, but you would have had to pay the $10,000 and you would pay $7,100 more. That is a huge savings if you had insurance.

Even if you think you are a fantastic driver and will get into an accident, you never know what other people on the road oar going to do. They may cause the accident entirely, and you would still probably have to pay something and get in trouble for not having insurance. Plus, you can never be sure that you'll never make a small mistake with big consequences.

Making Auto Financing Work For You

By John Brennan

Though finding the right car is not very difficult, discovering the right car loan is. When financing the person's car or understanding the car loan, details are not the same among dealer finance departments and personal banks. Therefore, it is important to be confident with the money that is spent.

A lot of companies will try to make you sign a car contract, so they give you their word that they have pretty good auto loan deals. Similar to some installment contracts, you will find that the car financing contract becomes amortized throughout an already decided duration of time.

Upon review of your application and personal credit history a lender will then make a decision to underwrite your loan and calculate an interest rate based on how much of a ariska they consider a person to be. The worse an individualas credit history is, the more likely the rate will be higher.

Once the interest rate is calculated for the person, it becomes an immediate addition to the new car's payments. Depending on the rate of interest, $383.00 would be added to the original price for the car ($23,000 for example). Then, for five years following the deal, the person must pay $383.00. Some people may not be able to afford the car because of the interest rate.

Of course, if you have liquidated funds to put toward the purchase at the start of the contract you will ultimately pay less in interest charges because you have put some equity into your purchase from the start. Since interest is compounded monthly on the balance of your note, the best of the best in auto loan deals is to put down as much money as you can, or to pay off your note earlier than the specified date. This can save you thousands of dollars in interest charges.

You may think that you are done with handing out your cash after you dealt with the monthly charges and interest payments. You are wrong. You must pay car insurance so that you can have liability and comprehensive covering on the car you just bought. So, you get another monthly bill. If you want your charges in your price range, you should probably get a quote from your insurance company before buying the car.

People should know that the car's value will lessen eventually, and the interest that is being payed will then become a waste of money. To ultimately save money, the person should do less financing and more spending on the car.

It is very significant for the person to save their money before going out to buy a car so that discovering the right auto loan deals for any kind of auto finance becomes easier. Saving cash before the purchasing of the car is a great thing to do if the person does not want to be troubled with expensive auto loans and interest rates.

Car Insurance Tips for Senior Citizens

By Tom Martens

Who is a senior citizen is a question that gets different answers from different people. But no matter how you define "senior," it is still necessary to maintain adequate insurance coverage, especially if you drive. While car insurance is a heavy expense for many seniors, there are many ways to lower costs while maintaining the right amount of coverage for your individual financial situation. Auto insurance is required for every one who drives, of course, regardless of age.

Sit down with a qualified insurance provider and thoroughly review your policy. Make sure it still fits your needs. If you are driving more, you might need additional coverage. But if you are driving less, then you could perhaps scale back on your premiums and save some money while still having proper car insurance coverage.

If you also maintain home and life insurance, consider getting all your policies from the same company. This practice is called bundling, and it is a good way to lower your premiums on all your policies. Bundling also makes paying easier, since you only have to keep track of bills from a single insurance provider. If you bundle all your policies, it is also possible to arrange a single due date, or staggered due dates, making it easier to pay premiums on a fixed income.

Inquire whether your insurance company offers senior citizen discounts. Many companies also offer discounts to members of groups like AARP, as well as other organizations. If you have more than one driver in your household, inquire about multiple driver discounts and discounts for multiple vehicles.

If you don?t want coverage, or you don't need it, don't buy it. It's not unusual for companies to try to sell you riders to your policy that are not really necessary, but cost you a lot of money. Don't let any salesperson pressure you into buying something you do not want or need. If you tell the agent you are not interested in the coverage and they insist you buy it anyway, then look for another insurance company.

Also, don?t purchase anything you don?t understand. Keep asking questions and have the insurance provider explain it until you do understand. Don?t be embarrassed or afraid if it takes several explanations for you to understand something. Make sure you get everything in writing. Review all contracts thoroughly, and don?t sign anything you don?t understand or like.

Finally, if you are not satisfied with your insurance provider, shop around and get new insurance quotes. Make sure your needs are met and that you have the insurance coverage you need without breaking your budget. Even if you are satisfied, it never hurts to shop around to see if you can get a better deal elsewhere.

No matter what your insurance requirements, be sure you always deal with a licensed insurance agent. He or she can examine your situation and offer you coverage that meets your individual insurance needs, as well as answer any questions.

Types of Car Insurance: What are my options?

By Graham McKenzie

Like the Olson twins, car insurance comes in pairs. First you must have compulsory insurance which is issued by law. Secondly, you can add onto that insurance based on your own needs.

When taking out car insurance for the first time, the client must decide on a rate. Usually a parent will make the decision for their children. Compulsory insurance is a good place to start. It's required in most countries and forces you to pay a fairly high premium each year. It covers damages for other vehicles in the event of an accident.

Compulsory insurance does not cover repairs or instances where the vehicle is stolen. Third part insurance does, and most people opt to cover those privileges. Third party insurance is not compulsory and solely taken out on the owner's discretion.

What you can do stress the importance of safe and defensive driving to your children. Tell them to avoid distractions and keep their eyes fixed on the road in front of them. If they do that, there premium will slowly progress in dollar signs as the years progress.

Most car owners are sensible enough to take out third party car insurance including coverage against theft. Although your vehicle may not be worth much, the coverage still protects you in case it is stolen.

The higher the value of the vehicle, the more your monthly insurance premium will cost. It's always a great idea to have comprehensive car insurance, but especially important for rare vehicles or vehicles in mint condition.

Comprehensive insurance is very popular and another good coverage. It covers accidents as well as theft, making the vehicle protected under minor to major car thefts. The insurance is calculated based on the value and condition of the vehicle as well as the driver's age and where it's parked.

Why Car Insurance is a MUST!

By Graham McKenzie

Buying a car, especially your first, is the second largest purchase you will ever make following a house. It's hard to think about it in that manner, because it suddenly raises the flow of your blood and you begin to think about how important your vehicle is to your assets. Is it well protected?

The law requires that every car on the road fall under basic or compulsory insurance. The law requires this insurance in the event of an accident where you are at fault with other vehicles. Your insurance will cover the damages done to other vehicles in the accident. The insurance will not cover your vehicle because you were responsible.

Most people who have owned a car at one time or another are well aware of the minor details surrounding car insurance, which doesn't hold true for first time car owners.

A vehicle is a valuable asset and one you should always maintain to protect. You would make a very unwise move not to. You don't want to be viewed as stupid do you?

Of course you do not. But people will refer to you as stupid if you go out, are involved in an accident, and now have no means to cover the damages. Now you are walking or biking to work.

However, if you have the common sense to take out comprehensive coverage, your vehicle is protected under several forms of damage and even theft.

Insurance premiums are not extortionate; instead they are calculated on an annual basis and should run at about 6% of the replacement value of your car.

If you are buying your first car, this is especially important. Chances are you are young and somewhat inexperienced as a driver. Comprehensive coverage will protect your vehicle from one minor mistake you might make or from theft, especially if your vehicle contains a lot of desirable goods for thieves.

These desirable goods might include radios, disc players, GPS systems, mobile computers, and other expensive items inside or outside the car. Comprehensive car insurance will protect all of that with the right policy.

Car theft happens all the time, as many robbers find radios, disc players, GPS systems, and other items in the car very desirable. Protect your goods with extensive coverage.

The Advantages of Pay As You Drive Insurance

By Tom Martens

The premiums you pay on your auto insurance are usually based on your age, gender, and where you live. Pay As You Drive insurance however is different. It's based on the number of miles you drive. Drive fewer miles, pay lower premiums.

One advantage of Pay As You Drive insurance is the cost. Since the premiums are linked to how much the driver uses their vehicle, it is easy to reduce costs. Simply reduce the amount of driving you do. Not only will you save money on your insurance costs, you will also save on gas and auto maintenance and repair. Less driving also means less wear and tear on your vehicle, which means you will be able to keep your vehicle long after you make that last car payment. With the cost of new and used vehicles soaring, this is a particularly attractive incentive.

The less obvious advantage of Pay As You Drive coverage is that you can tailor your program to your specific driving needs. Premiums under these plans are either computed on the basis of miles driven, or on the basis of hours driven. You can choose a Pay As You Drive policy that focuses on total miles, or total hours in a specific time period, such as six months. Pay As You Drive coverage offers you the flexibility and freedom you need to choose exactly the coverage you need, and to get it at a lower cost as you economize.

Because Pay As You Drive incentivizes driving less, it makes it less likely you will get yourself into an accident. Low-mileage drivers are usually more focused and careful behind the wheel, too.

Pay As You Drive plans require mileage monitoring, but there are multiple options. It is possible to have odometer readings, just as one would at the annual safety inspection. It is also possible to have a GPS-based monitor installed in the vehicle, which allows for data uploading. And since only periodic mileage readings as needed to compute the cost of Pay As You Drive coverage, the cost of monitoring will most likely be offset by the money saved in insurance premiums.

A report from the Brookings Institution found that two-thirds of U.S. households would save an average of $270 a year with Pay As You Drive insurance. In the current tight economy, that is great news.

Moreover, not only does Pay As You Drive save you money, it protects the environment. Fewer vehicles on the streets and highways means a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Less traffic also means fewer traffic jams and less congestion, and less time wasted sitting in the car.

There are many advantages to Pay As You Drive. See or call your insurance agent to get more detailed information about a Pay As You Drive policy that meets all your insurance needs.

How can We Prevent Road Accidents from Happening

By A Nutt

There is no doubt about it; there are far too many accidents on the road today. Even if you are the most careful and contentious driver on the road there is still a chance that someone will slam into your car causing you, at the very least, some property damage and maybe something far worse.

There is nothing you can do that will guarantee you a constantly safe and totally accident free driving experience, but there are several things that travelers can do to help minimize the amount of accidents that occur on the road every day.

Obey the Traffic Laws The state makes prospective drivers pass a test before they get behind the wheel for a reason, automobiles can be very dangerous if they aren't operated properly and according to the laws of the road. Speed limits, traffic signs and all other traffic signals should be closely adhered to every single time someone gets behind the wheel, traffic laws are put in place to protect all of the travelers who are sharing space on the road. Following traffic signals isn't an option, those drivers that treat it as such are usually the ones you see pulled over to the side of the road being handed a violation by officers or off the side of the road due to being involved in an accident after that required roadside assistance.

Pay Attention to the Road and Your Surroundings at all times There can be plenty of things going on in traffic all around you, so it's crucial that you pay attention to everything going on around you. Driving should be your only focus while behind the wheel. Too many travelers use there commute to eat their breakfasts, drink their coffees, apply their make up and change their outfits and these are often the drivers that are involved in accidents. If you don't have time to eat, change or apply your make up before you get in the car, it's probably a good idea to start getting up earlier. Those five extra minutes of sleep won't help you replace your totaled automobile or help with your rehabilitation following an accident.

Put Down the Cell Phone Our cell phones now are a huge survival tool, they let us make calls, receive and send text messages and e-mails, surf the internet and get directions, watch videos, take pictures and listen to music, among other things, but one place they don't belong is in your hand while you're behind the wheel. You simply can't concentrate on the road and the things going on around you while you're typing a text message or reading an e-mail. There are laws against using your cell phone while driving in many states now, and those laws are just as important to follow as all of the other laws on the road, you can read your e-mails and send your texts when you get to your destination, but doing so while your driving may not let you get to your destination at all.

Don't Drive under the Influence Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a major cause of accidents and automobile related deaths. An easy way to prevent this is to not drive while you are under the influence, if you have to drink, and then find another way to get home. Have a sober friend drive you, take a cab or spend the night where you are, but never get behind the wheel after you've been drinking.

Many of the accidents that occur are preventable, if people would just pay attention and abide by the laws of the road. By staying aware of your surroundings you can help to minimize the chances that you'll be involved in an accident, but if you choose to drink and drive or play with your cell phone while you're driving then you are setting yourself up to become a statistic.

Modified Auto Insurance: Stuff You Might Not Have Known

By Chimezirim Odimba

Cars, for some people, are their first love and they get great enjoyment from modifying them. While this is not quite the norm for most, many have found great enjoyment and have also spent a lot of money on this pastime. Modified vehicles require additional security to shelter them if they are involved in an accident or the target of vandalism.

Automobile modifications and major improvements always result in the owner spending more money on premiums. Modified or performance cars are not a favorite for insurance companies to offer coverage for. Changes to exterior fittings will make a noticeable difference in the price of the premiums but at least this is an area that most insurance companies are willing to cover.

The trouble lies, for the most part with engine variations. When it comes to engine modifications and cars with extremely powerful engines, a lot of companies will not even consider giving a quote. Changing the in-car entertainment system and adding merely exterior items to a car doesn't truly have an effect on regular insurance coverage.

Insurance companies normally don't have a problem with insurance modifications when small changes are made. Many mainstream insurers will not insure a car with engine modifications or a high-powered car with a young driver.

Modified street cars used to be nearly impossible to insure but changes have been made by the insurance companies to accommodate these drivers. However, one thing that hasn't changed is the way in which insurance companies establish the insurance premium for this style of vehicle.

It's all about the risk profiles of the driver and the car; and insurance companies tend to determine your risk profile by placing you as a driver into categories like gender, age, income, etc. and the same goes for your car. As far as car insurance companies are concerned, there are two types of modified street cars: show cars and street race cars.

Insurance companies are lenient on show cars that offer less risk as they are not usually driven or left in areas that would make them prone to needing to make any claims. Show cars are usually stored when not in use which makes them less prone to being ripped off. This is all excellent information for your insurance agent.

Street racers, on the other hand, involve levels of high risk regarding where, how, by whom, and when they are driven. Insurance for this type of automobile is exceptionally elevated to recover any potential losses.

Not having auto insurance can cost you!

By Jeff Cline

Most States have laws regarding car insurance. The State of Texas says you must have car insurance to even get a car registered to your name. If you go without you still have to pay for damages incurred in an accident. In addition you could be fined or even get your driving privleges suspended. It is just not worth the cost!

The State of Texas limits are 25/50/25. Each State may differ. Texas requires liabilty covergae that will cover damage and medical expenses if you are found at fault

Basically, the limits somewhat protect your pocket book and the person that incurred the damages up to $25000 for bodily injury or death, $50000 for two people. They also require $50000 to protect damages done to property such as the other vehicle. They do not require Comprehensive coverage to protect oneself.

If damages exceed the limits you would still be responsible for the additional expense. Many insurance companies recommend more coverage for this reason. The States minimum is just that a minimum and often not enough.

You are not required to carry Comprehensive coverage, but sometimes if you have a lien holder they require you to. As long as they remain part owner they want the vehicle protected from loss. You should add comprehensive if you would like to protect yourself as well.

How would you like to lose the privealege to driver? Do not follow your States requirement and your wish may be granted. Fines could be as much as $1000 depending on whether it is a 1st offense or 2nd or 3rd. You could have your car towed and that means even more money out of your pocket for fun.

The State of Texas also has a "surcharge" that you must pay for a period up to 3 years to the Department of Motor Vehicles to maintain your license. It is not a cheap price tag either. They find it very necessary to have at least the bare minimum so they take this matter serious.

It is important to maintain auto insurance. For many reason. The ones listed, plus they fact that violations increase your insurance premiums, just making it more expensive to maintain coverage. It is such a waste of your hard earned money.

You can also set your deductible which is the amount you pay towards repairs and expenses. If you have your deductible set at $400, in case of an accident, you'll have to pay the first $400 of repairs. The higher your deductible, the lower your premiums are, but the more you'll pay if you're in an accident.

By Chimezirim Odimba

If you really desire the cheapest quotes, you'd have to shop around well. Extensive shopping can be carried out in all of the following ways...

What was their experience with those they switched from and what value do they get from their present agents or insurers? Your Your task is easier if they rave about their agent and/or insurer. Then you should just write them down as possible options for you. Nonetheless, make sure you do not ask just one person and then settle for their agent (Irrespective of good they tell you their agents are). . Get quotes from each. Have some time with each of them, see their response, and who has the best value. This could take you quite some time.

b) The Yellow Pages is also an invaluable place to locate agents and start your shopping. You can implement this as a starting point however be sure you are very careful in picking an agent this way. The major problems with this is that you'll require much time and may not be able to vouch for the nature of the agent as would be the case if a friend recommended them.

Therefore, you're advised to still ask for quotes from at least three agents or insurers. Many quotes make it surer that you'll get lower quotes and value.

e) It's also okay to contact any any you already have a relationship with and ask for a quote. Don't get quotes from just an agent. No matter how remarkable their service is. There's always an opportunity for better deals. Though it will be more tasking, you can only guarantee better value by getting a lot of quotes.

f) If you can, call insurance companies directly and ask for quotes. Remember to get quotes from as many insurers as makes sense. Weigh their price plus value offered and you'll be on track to making the the best price to value ratio there is for your profile.

The most important step to reasonable savings in auto insurance is comparison shopping -- That's if you do it right. You can get quotes that will have a range in excess of $1,000. You could quickly save that much by just picking the lowest quote. This should apply if you're simply after the lowest price. However, if you want the best value to price ratio then you'd have to check the details of the cheapest quotes. Different insurance companies may have different exclusions for similar policies. It's a good idea to ask the agent what's part of the deal and what's not.

Best Tips on Shopping for Wheels and Tires

By Will Treps

Finding and buying the right wheel now can save you the time and money for replacement later. You also ensure your safety and that of your passengers. Here are some basic tips when shopping for tires and wheels.

Look for Package Deals

Dealers and retailers can sell wheels and their tires separately. This may be an option for you if you don't really need to replace your wheels just yet. Sometimes though, it makes better sense to shop for package deals. You can order all four car tires with their wheels. This can usually help you save a few dollars in shipping than if you ordered separately.

One other added advantage of ordering package sets is that you get only the best fit and mounting service from your dealer. If you aren't very experienced in fitting wheels and tires, you should just really leave it to the experts.

Look for a Lot of Options

Take note that some specific vehicle types should only be fitted with specific tire sizes and dimensions. This doesn't mean though that you have to be stuck with only just one tire and wheel brand or model. Look for dealers that can offer you wider selections and options for your vehicle.

Ask for Installation Instructions

Make sure that they come with full installation instructions before you pay for your purchases. Reputable dealers won't forget to insert the appropriate guidelines but you can never be too sure. Nothing spells frustration better than getting a whole package of wheels and tires and not knowing what to do with them.

Make sure your dealer is willing to offer help with finding someone who can install it if it doesn't come with any instructions on installation. It can be tricky finding installers on your own if you do not personally know any good ones. Look for an online tire dealer who already has a good list of installer prospects to choose from.

Read Reviews

Do some research. After reading through product information and the advice of your dealer representative, you should look for even more unbiased opinion. You can usually get that from other consumers who have tried and tested tires and wheels of different brands. Look for consumer opinions in forums or in online review and rating sites. This will help ensure that you aren't just being drawn by a sales representative who's trying hard to sell.

Evaluate Policies and Terms

Different online tire dealers have different rules and terms. Make sure that you read all the fine print before clicking the buy button. You would want to be sure about shipping policies, exact costs, hidden costs, warranty rule and return policies. You would have to be at ease with all of your dealer's terms before you get a tire and wheel package.

Look for Customer Service

If things don't go well with delivery and installation, you need good customer service to lean on. Your dealer should have knowledgeable personnel who are ready and willing to answer all your wheels and tires questions.

How to Hire A Vehicle

By Dr Adel Car

There's more to renting the car than just reserving it and paying for it, to make sure that you get the best deal follow these steps and tips.

STEPS:

1.Choose three to four car rental firms that fit your wants and needs, do this either through the phonebook, or through the internet, remember to scan every possible firm before you make a choice, you don't want to overlook the best car rental because you got bored from looking

2.Contact the agency and ask about their special offers, location, availability, pickup sites, rates, special rates, hotel and airline partnerships, extra charges, insurance, everything you can think of that can help lower what you have to pay for your car rental, or what would make the car rental more convenient for you.

3.Choose a pickup point; find one that is near you so it won't be a hassle, some car rental companies pay for the cab ride you have to take, some pick you up at your home or at the airport to take you to your rental.

4.Pick a car, depending on your needs, find a car that could fit all the people you'll have in it, and if you're alone just use a compact, some rentals charge higher for larger vehicles.

5.The next thing to do, after you've totally decided on which to take, remember to reserve it, some car rentals include the reservation fee on the overall rent, some make it out to be an extra fee, you should also look out for this when get a car rental.

TIPS

For the best deals for your money here are some tips when looking, finding and taking out a car rental.

1.When getting a car rental check for available upgrades at no charge, you'd want the best deal so you'd want the best car, to do this, you should go pickup your car early in the morning, when the other cars haven't been returned yet, this way there would be a shortage on economy cars and the firm might just give you an upgrade for a lower price.

2.Get an internet car rental. These types of rentals offer internet only discounts, and sometimes even accepts find a car at your own price methods where you just give them your budget and they'll find the best deal for you, plus you wont have to go anywhere to get a rental.

3.Fill the gas tank before you return your car, car rentals will charge you, at an inflated price, the cost of the gas needed to fill the tank.

4.Look for packages like fly-drive-stay or fly-drive, these will get you great discounts on rentals, and what's more you won't have to worry about other details like a hotel or an airline, everything's there. You can find these packages on must travel agencies.

5.If your frequent flyer discount or free flight is about to expire, there are some car rental companies that offer to exchange these discounts to discounts on your car rental, although its more cost effective to just fly with your frequent flyer discount, if its going to expire anyway, why wait?

These are just a few of the things you'll need to know, but always remember to be pesky, ask questions, ask for discounts, the only reason why people don't get better value for the things they buy is because they're too shy to ask.

Multi-Vehicle Discount -- Things You Might Not Have Known

By Chimezirim Odimba

Will a multi-car discount help you cut down your premium? This cannot be disputed. Nevertheless, some people "lose" money while trying to take advantage of this discount. I'll take my time to explain further...

You'll pay only $900 if a merchant gives you his $1,000 at a 10% discount. However, you've still paid a lot more if this merchant used the "discount" strategy to stop you from visiting another shop where the same product sells for $800 albeit without any form of discount.

The fact that an insurer gives competitive rates for an "A" car does NOT imply it will also have great rates for a "B" car. There things to consider...

When working out your rate, insurance companies apply a number of factors in order to have enough to handle claims, take care of costs of doing business and making good profit. Ranking high among the many factors used in the underwriting process is a company's claims history. A simple definition for this is: Details of claims made within a particular period.

A particular company might have had a good year with policyholders who drive "A" cars. But at the same time, they might have had far more claims than projected by policyholders who drive "B" cars. You'll see that they would be able to maintain their rates for one car while they won't for the other.

What if another insurer did NOT have such an unpleasant experience with "B" cars? They'd likely have a lower rate. So while a multi-car discount is great, make sure you don't stand to gain more elsewhere before going for it.

Remember, a discount only means that they've removed a part of the amount they charge normally. It does NOT suggest that what they'll take from you is less than what others will.

Furthermore, don't forget that I mentioned that insurers do consider many factors. Each factor gets a different relevancy score from different insurers. The end result is: Similar policies will have a big difference in rates.

You'll, therefore, do well to shop around first if you intend to insure a second or third car. Take this discount if it saves you more or go if your bread is better buttered elsewhere.

Really Cheap Auto Insurance -- Ways To Find It

By Chimezirim Odimba

Are you serious about slashing your costs by reducing your premium dollars? If so, your search stops here as this article will reveal adjustments you need to make and point you to all the resources you need to pay far less. I'll reveal several guaranteed tips that will make the difference. And this will be without reducing the quality of coverage you enjoy. Here they are...

There are many anti-theft or theft-deterrent devices like alarm systems, automatic gas cut-off system and so on. The risk of theft is an important factor that goes a long way to determine your rate. And since these reduce such a risk, you'll attract a good discount for them. Cars without such devices are easy targets for thieving rats.

Defensive driving helps so get trained in it. In addition to making you a better driver, it will get you a discount with your insurer provided such a class is recognized by them.

Policyholders who do NOT make claims for up more than 3 years get a No Claims bonus. Here's a tip: Even though you might have cause to make a claim, don't if they are minor issues. Therefore, if it's a minor case, handle it on your own. What you'll gain from a No Claims discount will certainly outweigh it.

Make sure your auto insurance policy is never allowed to lapse no matter what..It will sentence you to expensive rates for a long time. This happens to some folks while they are about switching to another insurance company.

A simple way to ensure you do NOT make this costly mistake is to maintain your old policy until you're sure the new policy is in full force. As simple as this may seem, many people are bearing the weight of exorbitant rates because of this silly little oversight.

If you want to keep your rates down, do NOT "pimp your ride." Things like changing your tires to bigger ones than specified by the manufacturer, adding equipment that will increase your car's horse-power will cost you a lot more.

If you have collision and/or comprehensive for an old car which is not a classic, then you're paying much more than you should. Your car's Kelly Blue Book value at the time of a claim (and not the value of the car when you bought it) is what determines what you'll get from your insurer. So even if you've paid your premiums faithfully for years but the Kelly Blue Book value says your car is worth nothing, you'll get nothing from your insurer and they'll be totally covered by the law.

So do yourself a favor and remove this coverage types from your policy for all old cars. If you do this you'll pay a lot less.

You will save a lot if you can shop around and do thorough comparison. The range of quotes presented per query could be as wide as $1,000 for a given person. Although this is a good thing, it's advisable that you don't get carried away. It's not usually that easy if you're after the best price/value.

The lowest quote may not offer you the best price/value. Despite the fact that each of the quotes returned will certainly give you the same main coverage, there could be several differences in the details of each insurer's coverage. This makes it important that you find out if there aren't any exclusions you won't like.

Remember to treat these no-obligation quotes as their name implies. Don't feel obliged to pay unless you've got all your questions answered to your satisfaction. You will never get rude surprises down the road if you do this.

Free Car Insurance Quotes -- For Big Savings

By Chimezirim Odimba

Nothing good comes easy or free is a popular thinking. But the truth is that good things in a number of cases do come free and easy at someone else's expense, of course. Insurance quotes sites are free but so useful you should not even get an auto insurance policy without visiting them. Such sites usually cost a lot of dollars to develop and maintain. But like everything free, there must be some benefits for those sponsoring the sites. Isn't this true? Won't their interest hurt you?

I'll tell you why you shouldn't ignore the great opportunity that free car insurance quotes and comparison sites provide.

They're motivated by what they gain too. Therefore, this is not charity. However, they gain because they help you get lower rates and when you do, you hopefully get your policy through their agents. This will make you understand why using them won't be detrimental.

If you operate a business you definitely know that you spend quite a lot in getting customers. This is also true if you're an insurer. Before the internet, they could only get buyers using offline methods and, boy, were they too expensive?

If you consider the fact that those who ask for free quotes are qualified leads you will agree with me that their agents will have a lot less to do (That's where the applicant choose to NOT buy the policy online). And, their site provides them such leads round the clock at a rate that's insignicant compared to other ways. These prospects' details are captured instantly into a database without the need for human interference. This makes it easier for them to manage data and also ensures that only authorised persons have access to them. This lowers the cost of business to an insurer. So you can see that the free quotes they provide is a very small price for the huge savings they get.

Although you now know why they may be giving you such resource for free, you may want to know what you really stand to profit. Here they are...

1. The competition in the insurance sector is tough. Savings like these help insurers compete better by giving lower rates. The lowest premiums are online, period. It only makes sense that a business will encourage people to use means that make it more affordable for them to operate while simultaneously increasing their efficiency.

2. Free car insurance quotes sites normally return results from a minimum of five insurance companies. This gives you a wide range for comparison.

3. It is much more convenient to get your quotes online from these free auto insurance quotes sites. It is something you can do at your own time and pace. Can you make time only by 3.00am? That's fine. Just log on and get your quotes -- So easy!

4. You avoid the risk of being sold another more expensive plan just because an agent wants to get bigger commissions. Nobody pressures you online making it easy for you to get what you need and not what someone else wants.

If you intend to save on auto insurance, you can get your free, easy and fast quotes within a few minutes.

By Chimezirim Odimba

Are you planning to purchase your first car? Car insurance is compulsory even for your first car. You cannot bypass this obligation. Are you worried that you may exceed your budget for your first car insurance? Let me guide you through some factors you should keep in mind when getting car insurance for the first time.

The cost of car insurance depends on the past driving history of the applicant. If you have no past record, you will not be saddled with extra cost imposed on others having bad past records. A driver clocking thousands of miles in a year faces significant risk of being involved in accidents. This is a thumb rule. A first timer will always have a no accident record.

However, this advantage is negated by your lack of experience. Being a first timer, your lack of driving experience will hamper your efforts to get affordable car insurance.

One way to get a good car insurance deal is to participate in specialized driving courses organized by government and non government agencies.

Determining the extent of auto insurance cover is not an easy task when you are obtaining auto insurance for the first time. The extent of cover is dependent on cost of your car. Damage to an expensive car will involve high expenditure on repairs. You need adequate protection in form of car insurance.

If you want to spend less on car insurance, you should opt for those gadgets which will enhance road safety. The presence of safety features like air bags, anti lock brakes etc. will help you buy superior coverage at lower costs.

Age, gender and marital status of applicants is given a lot of importance.

Car insurers will prefer middle aged experienced female driver over a teenager just beginning to drive. This does not mean first time car insurance seekers cannot get good deals.

Searching hard for good auto insurance deals will not help unless you conduct your search in a shrewd manner. Do you want the best deals? Make sure you extent your search to the Web.

Log on to reputed websites offering free online multiple quotes. Obtaining quotes online does not create any obligation on your part to deal only with a particular service provider.

Keying in different data may lead to quotes which cannot be easily compared. Keep this in mind when obtaining multiple quotes. Once you have multiple quotes in your hand, identifying the best deal is a very simple task. Online service providers offer a lot of information and tips related to car insurance. So what are you waiting for? Make use of your resources to secure the best deal.

So your teen is now old enough to drive? While this should be a joyful moment, many parents remember it with some mixed feelings. Mixed feelings because the family budget is about to spiral up. Add gas costs! Worse still is the fact that the family's auto insurance spend is going to increase by as much as three times just because of one driver -- albeit their beloved kid. Thankfully, it's NOT like the weather. You can do more than complain. You can take sure steps to pay less. I'll share them with you...

I will list several things and then dwell more on just one (the last point)...

1. Let your kid pay at least part of the bill if they must drive. If they are responsible for paying part of the bills they'll be more open to suggestions that will reduce your rate.

2. Make him/her a secondary driver on your oldest car (Such a car should be ok without comprehensive and collision coverage).

3. Let your kid learn to drive at a driving school and NOT on their own. If they did learn on their own, let them take a course in defensive driving. Apart from the fact that this will save you on premium, it will help keep your teen and our roads safer.

4. Encourage your teen to maintain straight A's or a minimum of B's. Insurers believe their is a correlation between recklessness and poor grades.

5. Kids who drive cars that have high safety ratings pay less on auto insurance.

6. Whenever they can, let your teen use the public transport system. It will cut down mileage and reduce your rates. And did I point out that you'll save on gas too?

7. Teens grew up with the internet and so are usually very good at finding their way around it. Therefore, put them to good use...

If you want to do extensive comparison shopping, then your teen can help you out. They have the time and skill to do this.

So describe what you're looking for: The best quote that does NOT leave you compromised in any way. They should be encouraged to get quotes from NOT less than five sites.

What was their experience with those they switched from and what quality of service do they get from their present insurers? It wise to go with their agent and insurer if they speak highly of them. I must stress, though, that you should be careful with going with just one friend's suggestion. They might not have Shopped well themselves. . Get and evaluate quotes from as many recommended agents as as you can. Have indepth discussions with them and you'll find out who has the best for you. This could take you quite some time.

Auto Insurance -- Precautions While Shopping

By Chimezirim Odimba

There are good guys and there are bad guys. This is also true of the insurance sector. Are there no ways to know the bad guys? Is there nothing a person can do to protect him/herself? Following are tips that will help you...

1. All states have a department that is in charge of insurance there and are always there for, you, the consumer. You can discover much about insurance policies, how to go about them in your state, insurance companies licensed to sell such insurance policies in the state and other valuable information. Being better informed will definitely make it more likely for you to realize more savings.

2. Make phone calls to your trusted friends and ask them about their insurance company. Their testimonial of previous and current insurers will help you in the decision-making process. You can ask to be referred to their agent if you're satisfied with their testimonials. Nonetheless, be certain you don't call only one person and then go with their agent (Despite how good they tell you their agents are). Get referred to several agents. Obtain quotes from each. Have some time with each of them, see their attitude, and who has the best value. This is quite effective but also quite time-consuming.

3. Consumer guides are also great resources for those shopping for insurance. They are a great place to get an idea of offers. You'll also read great tips that will make it easier for you to get the best in auto insurance. Note that the quotes you see in such guides are not what you might get. They're only to give you an idea. To do your shopping right request quotes from not less than three agents. Many quotes make it surer that you'll get cheaper rates and value.

4. Buy your auto insurance policy from a company that has a solid reputation. You won't like it if you get hooked with an insurer that will compromise you.

Some insurers will take care of you better than others. Don't use any company has a poor rating. So, take your time to visit the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to be sure you're in good hands.

5. You will save a lot if you only have between 15-30 minutes. Visit, receive and compare auto insurance quotes from selected quotes sites. The lowest offer should be what you pick easily. However, you have to go beyond just the cheapest price to the best price to value ratio. The cheapest may not offer the best price/value for you as a person.

Oh, No!" I'm in an accident, what am I covered for?

By Graham McKenzie

You do not have a choice when deciding whether you need or do not need car insurance. It's mandatory, and when caught without it, citizens are in deep trouble. So obviously you must take out a policy. But which policy you ask?

When taking out car insurance for the first time, the client must decide on a rate. Usually a parent will make the decision for their children. Compulsory insurance is a good place to start. It's required in most countries and forces you to pay a fairly high premium each year. It covers damages for other vehicles in the event of an accident.

Compulsory insurance is expensive, because it does not represent the replacement value, but instead takes into account the damage that may be caused to other vehicles involved in the accident and personal injury claims.

What if you are involved in an accident, but it's the other driver's fault? Then there compulsory insurance is liable to pay for the damager done to your car. In fact, insurance company's hold a lot of sway to who is responsible for the accident as well as driving age and experience.

A car owner can insure their car against damages in an accident through third party insurance. This type of insurance covers damages to your car when you are involved in an accident that only involved your vehicle. The insurance company will pay out most claims on these types of accidents after deducting the deductible from your policy.

The higher amount of deductibles you agree to pay in the event of an accident, allows you to reduce the cost of your annual insurance by more than if you had a low amount of deductibles. A "No claims" bonus is awarded to the driver every year they avoid an accident in a third party insurance policy.

Comprehensive insurance is very popular and another good coverage. It covers accidents as well as theft, making the vehicle protected under minor to major car thefts. The insurance is calculated based on the value and condition of the vehicle as well as the driver's age and where it's parked.

Multi-Policy Discount -- When You Might Not Need It

By Chimezirim Odimba

If you need a discount, get your new insurance policy from the same insurer you bought existing policies from. This is called a multi-policy discount.

Nevertheless, all the amount you may get as discount may still pale into significance if compared with savings you will make by buying your policies from several insurers. I'll shed more light on this...

Let's imagine that a certain profile has the following rates from 3 different insurers...

Insurer A...

Auto insurance: $2,487

Home insurance: $1,400

Health insurance: $2,320

Insurer B...

Auto insurance: $1,472

Home insurance: $2,120

Health insurance: $2,724

Insurer C...

Auto insurance: $3,500

Home insurance: $2,080

Health insurance: $1,640

You can see that Insurer B gives him the most affordable rate for auto insurance but does not give him the best quotes for health or home insurance..

Assuming that he buys the 3 policies from Insurer B and gets a a 10% multi-policy discount, his total would be...

$1,472 + $2,120 + $2,72 = $6,316

$6316 - (10 percent of $6316) = $5,684.40

On the other hand, he would spend the following on insurance as a whole if he goes for the insurance company that gives the best quotes for each policy...

$1,400 + $1,472 + $1,640 = $4,512

This example proves that it is more beneficial for this prospect to buy from different insurance companies as he would get more savings that way.

$1,172.40 is certainly not an amount you should throw away and that is what he would have lost if he had gone for a multi-policy discount.

So are you sure of which would yield more savings for your profile?

So here's how to discover...
